Frugal Accomplishments ~ Week Ending 22 Oct 2017

Each week Brandy at The Prudent Homemaker shares her frugal accomplishments from the previous week. These weekly posts are some of my very favorites to read – both Brandy’s posts and her readers’ comments provide a great deal of inspiration and encouragement for me.

Last week I was able to incorporate a few money saving ideas that I haven’t used in a while (marked with an *), as well as a couple of new (to me) things. I also made several big ticket purchases, one of which was a bit annoying (but I got a discount, so WOO!) and one of which is SUPER exciting to me and will save us money in the long run. Menu Plans ~ 23 Oct 2017

Monday: Gnocchi and green beans
Tuesday: Vegetable chowder and toast
Wednesday: Mac & cheese with peas
Thursday: Sandwiches and pears
Friday: Cous cous with Bombay potatoes and fruit
Saturday: Pizza (frozen)
Sunday: Lamb chops, peas, and mashed potatoes

Menu Plans – 9 Oct 2017

One of the easiest ways to save some cash is to cook meals at home, especially if you plan things out in advance (particularly using items you already have on hand). I used to so enjoy reading others’ meal plans each week and sharing my own – it’s been too long, so I’m going to get back into it. I hope my menu gives you some inspiration. Some folks plan for three meals a day and even include snacks; we have pretty much the same thing daily for these things, so I only write up dinners. Here we go!

Monday: Waffles & fruit
Tuesday: Beef & bean tacos
Wednesday: Pizza
Thursday: Baked ziti
Friday: Hot dogs & pasta salad
Saturday: Baked ziti leftovers
Sunday: Curried mutton & brown rice
