Each week Brandy at The Prudent Homemaker shares her frugal accomplishments from the previous week. Here’s my list of frugal doings for the week – I look forward to reading yours as well!
Fueled truck at Kroger affiliate with $1 off rewards points ($1.699/gal vs $2.699)
Used coupons on snacks for college class day
Sold son’s completed Teaching Textbooks to a friend (saved her $75 vs new; earned us $45)
Took navy showers
Let the yellow mellow
Daughter took free art class at local college; the flight school class my son was sitting in on ended, but the instructor gave him an aviation history magazine to enjoy (which he did, immensely!)
Spotted 3 boxes of crackers in the half off basket at the shoppette – bought all 3
Borrowed an e-book on Overdrive; got an armload of print books & magazines and DVDs at the library
Received 3 coupons for $1 off on toothpaste at dentist’s office
Downloaded sample chapters for 3 Kindle books I wasn’t sure about so I can see if I like them (or not)
Used drying rack for laundry instead of electric dryer
Ordered pizza with coupon, as carryout vs paying delivery fee
Ordered 3 Christmas gifts on Shutterfly using free code – paid shipping only
Used coupons + sales at commissary for groceries; made sure to include lunches for CERT class & college day
Moved a lamp closer to the couch to be able to read with one bulb instead of using 2 bulbs in the larger lamp across the room or 4 in the chandelier above (ultimately I’d like some wall sconces for the space but we’ll see what I can find a good deal on *wink*)
Attended CERT training – received additional “Stop the Bleed” training we hadn’t expected, and our fire chief gave us each an Israeli bandage for our CERT kits, which was a very nice surprise!
Son turned TV off while downloading an update for game console & just turned it for a moment every 30 minutes for completion
Used the Sun Oven to bake potatoes for dinner
Received a military discount when ordering tea & herbal teas from Harney & Sons – saved almost $15.
Received a surprise preparedness gift from father-in-law – a set of flashlights! Does he know us or what? LOL
